Chapter 3 Reflections
3 Things I learned:
Using a certain kind of software the students can construct flashcards. Using the flashcards the students are able to learn in different ways. They are able to use the technology, learn the material they put on the flashcards, and they can always access them using the web. Using the web students are able to give their teacher feedback. They can e mail their teacher, or use some software that has been invented. Using technology in my classroom I have more control over the environment. I can visually see on the board and the students who is ready to move on or not. Just like professors these days are able to control attendance via the iclicker.
2 Connections I can make:
I can use technology in my classroom to help better my students typing skills, their English vocabulary, and they can utilize standardize test material. Also using googledoc or some form of that, homework will go “paperless”. Students will be able to submit all of their work using the web. This way they can turn it in and be done with the assignment and they do not have to worry about losing the paper that is due.
1 Question I have:
Is there any software for English teachers to use?

Chapter 2 Reflections
Chapter 2 Reflections
3 Things I learned:
All humans construct their knowledge by interacting in different experiences. By having my students use technology they not only get their work done, they also learn how to use the technology. Also by me using it in the classroom they are learning by watching me. Secondary age students are at a critical part in their learning stages. They learn new experiences by fitting in what they know with things that they are learning. And by doing that they are thinking in a different way and they are learning new things along the way. TPACK means technological pedagogical content knowledge which means teaching students how to use their technology resources, they are learning, and I am teaching.
2 Connections I can make:
I think it is important for students to know how they learn. I want to teach them about Jean Piaget’s developmental theory. It is important for them to know why I am teaching why I am teaching, and the different approaches I can take to help every student learn. I can show them in the beginning of the year via smart board my teacher standards. So that they know why I am teaching what I am teaching and why.
1 Question I have:
I understand teaching my students technology in the classroom, but why is it important for me to use it?

3 Things I’ve learned:
While reading the first chapter I did not understand how much technology is needed in the classroom. Teachers do not use technology these days because the schools do not have enough funding, they feel that they do not have enough training in the area, and technology changes faster than teachers can keep up. With the No Child Left Behind act in place in 2001 this would promise more funding to schools for “science based research”. Many teachers do not know how to use a smartboard or how to intergrade this technology into their field of study. Having technology in the classroom can help students learn how to use the technology themselves, helps students visual real life situations through presentations, and most of all it gains their attention so they are more likely to sit through the class because they are engaged.
2 Connections I can make:
Because I am in English I can show my students documentaries and movies that have been made on the subject and the book or author we are studying at the time. This will be helpful for the students to have a visual of what someone was thinking when the book was being written, they can see what the author looked like if we watch a documentary. Even I could have the students do a presentation such as power point or some other creative thing using the computer and technology. Because we live in the 21st century technology will be around wheather I like it or not. Using technology in my classroom will help engage the students, they make “readymade” software that will help with my subject, and students will be able to use the net when it comes to research when we do research topics.
1 Question:
Is there English standards that require me to use the net as a research tool while doing a research project?

Blog Guidelines
provide three new things you learned while reading the chapter. what resonated with you as worth of extra attention? do you agree or disagree with anything? you should be composing a post that includes more than three incomplete sentences. in terms of length and substance, this first section should be at least 1 paragraph
two connections to your own teaching. how could you intergrate what you learned into a classroom envorinment.
one question you have about the material covered was anything confusing? misleading? what would you like to learn more about?
